Defensive Indifference

Jason Giambi shaves his mustache and breaks out of his slump with an RBI single and a home run into the upper deck. In the same game Joba Chamberlain is injured.

Does this mean the mustache only has power over Giambi? Or does it mean that when he shaved his mustache, he put a curse on the Yankees? Or maybe it means that it has no power at all? (I know, crazy, right.) Only one thing is certain: Joba is probably headed for a stint on the disabled list, and if I had to guess, I’d say there’s about an even chance he could be done for the season, which means just as it did in April, New York’s season is probably riding on Phil Hughes.

Luckily for the Bombers, Hughes’ rehab starts have gone well so far.
