Commence March Madness!
While other sports fans are gearing up for the NCAA Tournament, I’m focused on a much more exciting tournament, the 64-team single elimination Minor League Baseball Logo Contest, which begins today on MSNBC’s SportsBiz with Darren Rovell.
As anyone who follows MiLB knows, the minors are an absolute goldmine of funny, unique, and just plain bizarre team names and logos, all of which are featured in the MSNBC tournament. Personally, I’m rooting for the West Tennesse Diamond Jaxx, but that’s just me.
Anyway, what are you waiting for?? Let the games begin!!
My favorites: Jamestown Jammers and Modesto Nuts. An angry bunch of grapes plus a two-nutted logo = awesome. Or, if I’m being serious, the classic Durham Bulls logo. And as an aside: Double-you-tee-eff, the Sea Dogs didn’t make the tourney? That is a travesty. I mean, c’mon, it’s a seal biting a bat! That’s sooo much better than the half a dozen snake logos that made the cut.
I’m really partial to the Sea Dogs.
I like the old Durham Bulls sans the poop brown brim … like Bull Durham style.
