This Just In: The Red Sox Are Popular
If you needed any more proof that New England is a baseball region, here it is:
YES and SNY both set ratings highs for their Yankees and Mets games in ‘07, attracting averages of 4.7 and 3.3 percent of area households, respectively. That’s good, but this is amazing: NESN set a record for Red Sox games with 12.2 percent of households in its market. That’s more than 50 percent higher than the Yankees and Mets games combined.
This is what happens when you combine a rabid built-in baseball fanbase with bandwagon fans. All apologies to folks in the Big Apple and St. Louis, but Boston is the seat of baseball power, and that’s not true just because it’s home to the champs.
