Can’t Say I’m Surprised…
So the first leak about the Mitchell Report is out, and it’s quite a bombshell. According to a former Yankees trainer, both Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte used steroids during their time in pinstripes.
Am I surprised? For Pettitte, maybe a little (although I can’t say anyone would truly surprise me–maybe Juan Pierre?). As for Clemens, the answer would be a resounding “hell no!!!” Clemens is essentially the pitchers’ version of Barry Bonds. In other words, he somehow managed to get better at baseball at age 40, something that is pretty much against the laws of nature. Also, there was a lot of speculation that Clemens used steroids before this leak, so again, count me as very unsurprised. One thing this guarantees, I would wager, is that Clemens is finally retired for good.
You nailed it, no one would have surprised me. I’m breathing a sigh of relief that some of my personal favorite players weren’t on it: Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez.
