The Phillies Have an All-New Look
The reigning NL East champions unveiled a new third jersey yesterday that has a very retro look. It hearkens back to the Phillies of the 1940s (back when they were far and away one of the worst teams in baseball). It looks similar to their current uniforms except there are no red pinstripes and the red and blue hues are much darker. Philadelphia will wear the unis for most of its home day games.
Retro can be bad, but mostly it’s pretty good, and the Phillies are bringing back a tasteful piece of the past. Unfortunately this doesn’t even crack the top two in baseball uniform news of the 2007 offseason. That would go to the Blue Jays and Royals who have decided to resurrect the awesome powder blues both clubs wore in the early 1980s.
